Submissions to the Disability Royal Commission closed on 31 December 2022. Free legal and counselling support will continue to be available to people with disability and supporters in 2023.
Flinders Island residents can find out more about the Disability Royal Commission when Your Story Disability Legal Support visits the island in October.
Your Story’s Tasmania lawyer David Cocker will give a presentation on the Royal Commission and free supports available as part of a community legal education event at the Flinders Island Aboriginal Association on Monday 25 October.
The event will also feature presentations and discussions with Tasmania Legal Aid on elder abuse prevention and wills, power of attorneys, enduring guardianship powers, and advance care directives.
The community legal education event will run from 11am with legal aid clinics to follow from 1—3pm.
