Legal support continues to be available as Disability Royal Commission provides Final Report

People with disability and their supporters can continue to access free legal support after the Disability Royal Commission completes on 29 September 2023.

Your Story Disability Legal Support (Your Story) will continue to provide free information, legal support and referrals.

The Royal Commission provided its Final Report to the Governor General on 28 September 2023. The Report was tabled in Parliament and released to the public on 29 September 2023.

The Final Report makes recommendations on how to improve laws, policies, structures and practices to ensure a more inclusive and just society.

Free legal support for people with disability and their supporters

Contact Your Story today for information about the Disability Royal Commission and the free supports available. You can contact us about the Final Report or about your submission.

We can also support you with legal problems you might be dealing with, such as the NDIS, discrimination or family violence, and connect you with other support services, including free counselling.

If we can’t help you solve your legal or non-legal problem, we can connect you with someone who can.

Your Story’s legal support is free, confidential and available to anyone who needs it, including people with disability as well as their family members, friends, carers, advocates, and supporters.

Free counselling and crisis support

Free counselling is also available.

If you need support from a counsellor, please call the National Counselling and Referral Service on 1800 421 468. For information about their opening hours and other ways to get in touch, please visit the website.

Counselling is available through the holiday period, including on weekends and public holidays.
