[Narrator] How can I share my story
with the Disability Royal Commission?
[Sara, lawyer] Your Story Disability
Legal Support is a free
and independent legal service.
We give advice to anyone who
wants to share their story
with the Disability Royal Commission.
[Narrator] How do I share my story?
[Sara, lawyer]
There are lots of different
ways you can share your story.
I'll talk about the three main ways.
The first way is that you
could make a submission.
So that means writing
or recording your story.
You could also paint or draw your story
and submit it to the
Disability Royal Commission.
The second way you could share your story
is that you could ask
for a private session,
which is a one-on-one conversation
and a private conversation
with a Commissioner
from the Disability Royal Commission.
The third way you could share your story
is you could ask to be a
witness in a public hearing.
The Disability Royal Commission
has to invite someone
to participate in a public
hearing and not everyone who asks
will be invited to participate.
[Narrator] What will happen to my story
after I send it in?
[Sara, lawyer]
After you send in your story,
you can let the Disability
Royal Commission know
if you want your story to be
public, private, or anonymous.
If the Disability Royal Commission
wants to share your story publicly,
call us and get some advice.
[Narrator] Do I need legal advice?
[Sara, lawyer]
A lawyer can give you
the right information
so you can decide the best
way to share your story.
Contacting a lawyer does
not mean you are in trouble.
All the lawyer does is
help you know your rights
and give you the correct
information so you can decide
the best way to share your story
with the Disability Royal Commission.
We won't tell anyone what you
tell us, unless you ask us to.
[Narrator] How can I
