New issues paper on employment

On 12 May the Disability Royal Commission released its latest issues paper to learn more about the employment experiences of people with disability.  The paper includes 9 questions about the experiences and barriers in employment for people with disability.  Some of the questions focus on:

  • Why people with disability are less likely to be employed and have lower incomes than people without disability.
  • why First Nations people with disability experience higher rates of unemployment than non-Indigenous people with disability.
  • If specific programs designed to increase employment for people with disability are working
  • What can be done to prevent, or respond to, discrimination, violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation against people with disability in the workplace.

The Disability Royal Commission has asked for responses by 14 August 2020, although they will accept submissions after this date.
